The Beinecke recently uploaded pics of their vade mecum MS 923 to Flickr and included pics of every single page and flap as well as the exterior and case. It is a calendar MS and the pages are folded into thirds. Here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beinecke_library/sets/72157623554077978/ You might want to check out the other sets uploaded from the Beinecke. They include pics of their girdle book, a book of hours and more. Enjoy!

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you other than to try to figure it out from the photos. Sorry!

Hi! I'm enjoying your blog. Every time I do a search on a topic, it comes up!

I'm looking for details on how to recreate a vade mecum binding. Any thoughts or pointers?

Thank you!

Hi Justin, glad you're enjoying the blog and thanks very much for the correction! Sorry I didn't get around to it earlier - I've been moving house and finishing my dissertation this week. Thanks again!

First off... Love your blog, I have been following it for some time. Im a conservator at The Huntington Library in Los Angeles.

I just wanted to make a small clarification to your post regarding HM 47641. There is no Huntington Library at Berkeley. There is the Huntington Library and there is Berkeley but they are not one in the same. I think you accessed Huntington digital collections on Digital Scriptorium via UCB servers. The object is actually housed here at the Huntington in our collections. Those are our images.

No big deal... Just wanted to make the correction. Let me know if there is ever something in our collections that would want to see.help in your quest to achieve book nerdiness...

Keep writing!
